BOTOX® stimulates a process known as selective muscular denervation when injected into a muscle.
This occurs when acetylcholine receptors in the neuromuscular junction – where the nerve and muscle connect – are blocked. Acetylcholine is the substance that causes the muscle to contract.
As a result, even if the nerve continues to transmit a signal requesting movement, the tissue does not receive the command, and the muscle stays motionless.
BOTOX® injections relax the muscle that generates wrinkles, causing them to diminish or vanish completely.
The muscle progressively generates new receptors and is able to contract again over the course of 3-5 months.
BOTOX® is most efficient in removing wrinkles that are generated solely by muscle spasms. The skin above it no longer moves because the underlying muscle does not.
-
The theory behind BOTOX® is that, while it leaves your body naturally after 48 hours, it has the effect of trimming the receptors in the muscles that have been injected.
These receptors, which receive instructions from the brain to move the muscle, progressively regenerate over several months. 'Trimmed' receptors have the effect of momentarily reducing wrinkles and lines as a result of less movement from the relevant muscle.

There is little aftercare necessary with BOTOX® because there is no recovery period. You can boost the results of your treatment right after it's finished by gently moving the treated region with modest face workouts.
It's crucial not to massage the afflicted regions for the first two hours following therapy. Do not indulge in any strenuous activity, consume alcohol, or expose yourself to prolonged sun exposure – whether natural or artificial – for the next 24 hours.
-
Because BOTOX® is broken down by the body within 48 hours following treatment, it does not build up in your system. Multiple treatments improve the benefits since the muscle is already relaxed from the prior session, so your skin creases less and wrinkles aren't reinforced.

No. Your face just reverts to its pre-treatment state.

Some, but not all, are connected to the process of injecting the substance into the skin, rather than the product itself. Slight redness or swelling at the injection site (which goes down in 1-2 hours), minor bruising, headaches, and a very tiny risk of infection near the entrance point are all possible side effects. Clients may feel a transient drooping of the eyelid in very unusual circumstances.

Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, persons with neurological illnesses like Myasthenia Gravis and Parkinson's Disease, people who take certain antibiotics (namely Erythromycin), and those who use blood thinners like Warfarin or Heparin are all at risk.
During your consultation, your doctor will go over these with you.

We have a sizable male patient population that continues to increase. Anatomically, BOTOX® is just as effective and acceptable as an anti-wrinkle therapy for males as it is for women.
Men's facial muscles are often stronger than women's, which means a little larger dose is necessary to get the desired appearance. We do charge an additional £20 for a higher male supplement because males' upper facial muscles are stronger.
