THREAD VEIN / SPIDER VEIN REMOVAL

Thread Veins as they are commonly known are fed from the blue veins; they are blood vessels that are near the surface of the skin which have become visible. They look like thin red and bluish lines in the skin, causing an unsightly appearance of the vein.

The main cause of this condition is hereditary, but also a number of factors contribute to the appearance of these vessels including; activities or occupations such as hair dressers that require prolonged sitting or standing, pregnancy and other events that cause hormonal changes, weight gain and the use of certain medications, that can lead to broken capillaries and prominent veins showing through the skin.

These thread veins can dramatically affect ones confidence, restricting the type of clothes or swim wear one would wear. Many people of all ages have this condition but there are treatments available to remove and prevent further veins appearing the main one at our clinic being Plasma Laser.

Broken Capillaries & Vessels

Safe & effective IPL & laser treatment for broken capillaries & vessels

Broken capillaries & vessels are small superficial red, purple or blue veins that can occur on the legs or in fact anywhere on the body.

The causes of leg vessels include genetics, age, lifestyle, hormones, pregnancy and weight gain.  Although they are quite common, they can cause some distress and embarrassment for those who have them.

For leg vessels we will utilise a wavelength called ND YAG, this longer wavelength allows the laser energy to penetrate deeper in order to clear the broken vessels. The laser light can destroy the vein without damaging the skin.

Red veins are caused by overexposure to the sun, drastic changes in weather, changes in pressure, excessive alcohol consumption, environmental irritants, rosacea, hormonal changes, or simply genetics. Depending on the type of vessel we may choose to treat with advanced medical-grade IPL or utilise Nd: YAG. Following a thorough consultation, we will choose the best technology for your treatment.

Key Facts:

  1. Spider veins can occur even if you’re young

  2. The most typical cause of unwanted facial veins is the normal thinning of skin that comes with age.

  3. Women are more commonly affected than men

  4. Heredity and genetics are a common cause of facial veins

Broken Capillaries & Vessels Key Facts:

  1. Veins are one of three kinds of blood vessels.

  2. A large number of men and women all over the world suffer from leg vessels

  3. Some lesions are present from birth, while others develop with age, or as the result of environmental damage (such as sun exposure).

  4. Vascular lesions are normal veins that have dilated under the influence of increased venous pressure.

Spider Veins

Medical grade options for effective laser & IPL spider vein & telangiectasia treatment

Facial red veins, spider veins or telangiectasia are tiny blood vessels (capillaries) which run close to the skin’s surface. They look like thin red or occasionally purple or blue threads that often occur around the nose, across the cheeks and chin. The resulting red, web-shaped appearance gives them their common name, spider veins. Vascular lesions emerge when the blood vessels become enlarged which causes the veins to appear broken.

At KYDOLCE Skin Experts, we offer a targeted solution for the clearance of red veins.

What's involved?

The condition is treated by blasting the individual tiny spider veins with our Laser technology (red vein treatment can only be performed by a fully qualified and experienced Aesthetician Skin Specialist). The veins almost instantly disappear as the irritant closes the capillary.

How does the treatment work?

Light energy is applied to the skin where it is readily absorbed by blood vessels, heating them to a point where they are destroyed. Following treatment, the vessels quickly clear as they are reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.

Which types of veins can be treated?

Most red skin lesions, including facial thread veins, rosacea, spider naevi, and port wine stains, can be treated very successfully. Depending on the lesions, leg vessels can also respond well to treatment.

How is the treatment carried out?

The light applicator is placed on the skin and
a short pulse of light is released. The applicator is moved to the neighbouring area and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. During treatment, protective eyewear will be provided.

Am I suitable for treatment?

Treatment is suitable for most people. Best results are obtained for those with fair skin, and there is less chance of side effects.

How does the treatment feel?

Treatment is mildly uncomfortable but there is no need for anaesthesia and the procedure is actually quite quick. Sensations vary but most describe it as a very quick hot pin prick.

Are there any side effects?

After treatment the area may feel warm for a few hours. Rarely, some delicate skin areas such as the cheeks or décolleté can be red and slightly swollen for up to 48 hours. Though very rare, there is a chance a small blister may form and there could be temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

How long does each treatment take?

Treatments typically take from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the type and size of lesion.

How many treatments are necessary?

Typically 3 to 5 treatments are needed for optimum results, though small lesions may clear in just a single session. Repeat treatments are spaced every 4 to 6 weeks.

What is the consultation procedure?

Prior to treatment you must first undergo a consultation where details about your medical history are obtained in order to confirm suitability. Before proceeding you will be asked to sign a consent form and undergo a test patch.
